NBC Nightly News reported that many users of CBD oil, which is a “product of hemp, a cousin” of cannabis, “say it works wonders” for their health. But some doctors, including Columbia University Medical Center’s Margaret Haney, are skeptical when it comes to the accuracy of such claims. Earlier this year, added the report, the “FDA approved the first and only CBD medication, a treatment for two rare forms of epilepsy.”
NBC News reports on its website that CBD – or cannabidiol – has little in the way of research to back its use, but it is “turning up in a vast array of products, including CBD-infused lattes, massage lotions and baked goods,” with CBD’s sales “expected to hit $20 billion in the next few years.”
