The AP reports that the CDC is investigating nursing home deaths in Grand Junction, Colorado, and the investigation “raises concerns among public health doctors that successes in protecting vulnerable elders with vaccines could be in peril as the more aggressive delta variant spreads across the country.” While fully-vaccinated rates among nursing home workers are near the national average at 59 percent, they lag behind the full vaccination rates for seniors, who have reached 80 percent. The agency “has not released the findings of its investigation publicly, but said it plans to publish the results in an upcoming Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report.”
